When To Drink Water.

Q: Dr. Janet, awhile back, you had info about the best time to drink water, but you did not say anything about drinking with a meal, or right after a meal. This is important to me, but let me know if it is really important or not.

Thank you so much for your help.

A: You are quite astute - I do not recommend drinking anything with a meal because the liquid washes the digestive enzymes in your saliva out of the mouth, where digestion begins. I have written about this in my books (and in much detail in the Richardson Cancer Prevention Diet), but I don't think I have written any articles specifically about this. I will do that in the future.

Q: Do you know of a good product for prostate health?

Aspartame Withdrawal.

Q: I have suffered with Fibromyalgia for 20 yrs+, and I am now experimenting with cutting out aspartame. I have been aspartame free for +/- 10 days, but my symptoms have gotten much, much worse - any comment?

A: I hear this from many people, actually, and I believe aspartame withdrawal works the same as any "addiction" - the increase in symptoms is "withdrawal" from the constant intake of toxic chemicals. It is important to remember that you have been feeding your body toxins as "nutrition", and now you are "feeling" the reaction your body has been experiencing - pain and anxiety.

In order to speed up your recovery, you must replace the "healthy" nutrients that the toxic food and drinks removed from your body. And, you must ride out the withdrawal from your addiction to these diet chemicals.

I hope this helps give you confidence that you are doing the best thing for your body by avoiding toxic chemicals as a primary food source.
