Q & A with Dr. Hull

Subject: Why do they still sell aspartame?

Q: Hi. I found these mints at the store. They were in a cool tin so I bought them and I was reading the ingredients. They are X-it® mints and contain aspartame and phenylalanine. Do they contain enough to do damage and if so, then why do they sell them in the stores?

A: Yep, they contain aspartame, and slowly sucking on the chemicals in aspartame can create health problems. They have continued to sell aspartame because it brings in trillions of dollars. It addicts people to the belief if they use regular sugar, they will get fat. So, it's become a "craze." One day, more advanced humans will look back on this as another "idiotic" human mistake - like how we used to x-ray babies in the womb back in the 1940s!!

Glad you discovered this fact - it may save you from future headaches, unnecessary stress, vision problems, etc.

All the best.

Subject: The truth can't hide forever

Q: Consumer Reports On Health makes the statement: "Equal or NutraSweet found not guilty on cancer charge," stating research has consistently reaffirmed the safety of aspartame. They do not disclose their research source(s). I read Sweet Poison and have alerted family members and others of aspartame dangers. Unfortunately, it is more difficult to "not" find it than find it. My one shock was when I read the JELL-O&re; package and found it was there. Further research finds it in almost in every food product. I contacted Consumer Reports stating my position and requesting the background research information they refer to.

A: Well, the first thing to consider: when the truth comes out, a lot of people (and corporations) will have some explaining to do, especially after all the public concern. So, the best thing for the corporations to do is discredit the truth. Sweeping this under the carpet is their only way out of some major lawsuits. But, they ca''t fight the evidence, no matter how hard they try to manipulate it away from the public. I will be publishing a second aspartame book next spring, which will include the original research and cancer studies done as early as the 1970s. The corps won't be able to hide forever from this truth getting out!!!

Thanks for your email.

Subject: What's left that's sweet but safe?

Q: What can I use in place of regular sugar that is safe? I drink a lot of cokes and tea. I drink water but not all the time. What's left?

A: The research and government reports state saccharin (Sweet-n-Low®) is safe and always has been, so that is a better choice for coffee or tea. Stevia from the natural market is very safe and natural. Use half the amount of saccharin and Stevia, though. Each is much stronger than the "fakes" in the blue and yellow packs. I write about the saccharin ordeal in my new book, Splenda®: Is It Safe Or Not?, and include the FDA reports confirming saccharin's safety. It has never caused cancer in humans and the government acknowledges that fact.

Raw unprocessed sugar called Sucanat® can safely go into the sugar bowl and can be used for baking one-on-one for a replacement for refined sugar. Raw sugar is a form of nutrition for the body, and should process as a fuel without leaving fat as a by-product.

Use organic creams or milk (soy, rice, etc) in coffee or hot tea without the sugar and squeeze lemon in your iced tea and go without sugar. Use honey or "nothing at all" on quality grain cereals, sprinkle cinnamon in oatmeal, etc. There are lots of tricks to avoid the refined sugars and still enjoy your foods.

Hope this helps.

Subject: No gall bladder

Q: Are there any contraindications doing a colon/liver cleanse using an all-natural, mild product. I heard that you are not supposed to do one if you've had your gall bladder removed. What would be the significance of that?

A: Good question, especially concerning no gall bladder. Cleanses are always a good thing to do, but make sure the product you choose is pure with no hidden chemical additives. Even some health food products contain sucralose and artificial chemicals like titanium and aluminum.

Because you have no gall bladder, you will want to use any cleanse conservatively. I suggest halving the recommended dose. Your body doesn't know the gall bladder is gone, so it's operating like it's still there. If you haven't significantly changed your diet, bile, fat, cholesterol, etc. can build in the scar tissue where the gall bladder used to be. So, the liver cleanse is a good thing to do once or twice a year.

I recommend a product called ADA specifically created for this purpose. The inventor originally was looking for a good thyroid cleanse, and then he discovered he had stumbled upon an excellent liver and blood cleanse. It works so well, it removes fatty tissues, lowers BP and cholesterol, and results in weight loss for most people who use it the 90-day recommended period. I recommend using the product on-going in your particular condition. Contact Bob Adams at www.verifound.com.

Also, Empirical Labs has a good colon cleanse and liver cleanse. Contact Asa at orders@empirical-labs.com or call 970-461-3780 to inquire.

Hope this helps.

Subject: niacin: sometimes I flush and sometimes I don't

Q: I know you have answered a ton of questions about flushing from niacin, but I still am not 100% sure about it. When I feel a flush, sometimes it isn't until an hour later after I have taken it. Does this mean I should up my intake until it is right away or what? Sorry to bug you about this it just seems to be the thing I have the most difficulty getting a grasp on out of your detox program. Thanks in advance!!!!

A: That's what we're here for - to help. Remember what I wrote in my 10-Step Detoxification Program about detoxing in layers? It's like peeling the layers off an onion, one layer at a time. Well, toxins deposit in layers and you remove them in the reverse order they deposited, one layer at a time. This is what sometimes creates the burn. It depends upon the layers - what they are made of, how deep tissue they penetrate, and where they are located in your body. When toxins are lower than your niacin mg intake, you'll feel a burn. If your toxins are layered in a non-penetratable layer, then you won't flush at a lower dose of niacin. You need to charge up the niacin so it can break through the layers. Once it's broken through, you'll feel the flush and can decrease the mg. So, it's a swing-thing - niacin demands may go up and down dependent on the layers of toxins.

Reference my 10 Step Detoxification book for the details and case histories.

Wishing you the best.
