Having trouble sleeping? Perhaps you need to practice better sleep hygiene. Did you know?
* Going to bed and getting up in the morning at the same time each day helps you sleep better.
* Keeping the bedroom environment comfortable and keeping the room temperature cozy and very dark at night can improve your sleep.
* Avoid spending too much time in bed NOT sleeping. For example, if you plan to sleep 7 hours, don't spend 10 hours in bed.
* Alcohol before sleeping makes you sleep initially, but several hours later, it wakes you up again.
* Exercise daily for a better night's sleep.
* Bright sunlight exposure, particularly in the late afternoon or early evening, will help improve your sleep because light during the day helps you sleep better at night.
* Take a warm bath before bed - it initially raises your body temperature, and then when your body cools off, it makes you sleepy.
