Two Healthy Feedbacks

I thought you might like to know of the progress in my son since last I wrote. We took all sweeteners, particularly aspartame, out of his diet. He drinks pure juice or water, he eats some processed foods but only with homemade ingredients, he is eating fruits and veggies both raw and cooked (steamed mostly). We also took cheese and chocolate out, as they are contra-indicators to his migraines.

Since May, my son's migraines have all but disappeared. When he does have one (and he has had two bad ones) Diet Coke® has been the only thing that was common. He is no longer lethargic. He is still slow to get up in the morning, but is not always moaning about a tummy ache or a headache, which was his normal morning moan. He goes outside to play with his friends rather than lying in his bedroom. His teachers tell me he is no longer distracted in class and his exam results this summer supported this fact from bottom of the class to now in the top ten of the whole year! His balance has improved and so has his general demeanor.

We were on holiday in France this year (August), and he and I were watching the boats come into the marina. He turned to me and said, "Mummy, I have never felt so well in all my life." I hugged him and apologized for my prior ignorance that led to him feeling so unwell.

All I can say is since this, I have met loads of people who already knew about the dangers of diet sweeteners, and have informed many more by guiding them to your website. My son is very well aware of what he must not eat, and he reads labels for himself and chooses to feel well. As he puts it: he discounts anything that contains diet sweeteners or is dubious. If he is not sure about a certain food, he neither drinks nor eats it.

We are now off to see the neurosurgeon who spoke to us about his problems back in May 2005. I expect my son to be discharged from his care, as we know what to do now.
Keep up the good work and thanks for your support.

Dear Dr Hull,
I read with interest on your website Leslee's Splenda Case Study. I thought Splenda was a safe alternative since NutraSweet gave me headaches. So I switched. The headaches left for a while, but are back now. Leslee's report didn't say how much Splenda she consumed per day. I usually make lemonade with three packets of Splenda to drink during the day at work. Guess I'll try the stevia next. If I can't stand the bitterness you cited, I'm just going to go back to what good ole' God provided - sugar!

Thanks for all you do!
