Health Alert: Birth Control Patch

Medical reports are now surfacing concerning the birth control patch, Ortho Evra®. A high incidence of potentially fatal blood clots that can lead to stroke, heart attacks, hemorrhaging, and death have been experienced, and reported, by women using the patch.

Recent data by the Associated Press has revealed that in 2004, 800,000 women were using the Ortho Evra patch, and the risk of developing a major blood clot was three times higher than that of oral contraceptive pills. If you have used this form of birth control, contact your medical advisor with any health concerns that may be occurring since using this patch. If you have specific health risks or a history of health concerns, avoid a diet of food chemicals filled with artificial sweeteners, food colorings, MSG, processed fats, and foods and medications containing heavy metals such as aluminum, copper, and titanium.

The manufacturer of Ortho Evra is Ortho McNeil, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson.
