October is National Apple Month, so this month's "Did You Know?" is all about apples:
* "An Apple A Day Keeps the Doctor Away" is a statement based on real medical recommendations.
* A full range of essential daily nutrients is provided in apples.
* The apple is called the "Queen of Fruits."
* As with all fruits in their natural state, the fructose, minerals, and vitamins in an apple are perfectly balanced to provide efficient digestion and metabolism.
* Apples are one of the best sources of vitamin E, which helps improve the endurance and stamina of all muscles and nerves, and protects the respiratory system from harmful environmental air pollution.
* Apples supply both vitamins A and C, which are beneficial for the protection from colds and infections.
* Apple seeds provide vitamin B17, a known cancer-preventing nutrient.
