Have you opened any older cookbooks lately? They usually have great recipes for real food that are easily modified to meet you family's dietary choices. "Oleo" can be replaced with real butter. "Wesson® Oil" can be replaced with olive oil or any cold-pressed oil. "Salad dressing" can be replaced with real mayonnaise. "Salt" means dried sea salt or Celtic salt abounding with trace minerals and iodine.
The following recipes come from a 30-year-old church cookbook from St. Andrew's in Fort Worth, TX. Ah, the simplicity of food - real food.

1 1/2 cup chopped celery
2 cups chopped banana
1 cup chopped pineapple
4 Tbsp chopped sweet pickles
2 cups diced chicken
Salt to taste
2 Tbsp mustard
2 Tbsp salad dressing

By Sara Dacy
1 head cauliflower
1/2 head cabbage
1 small onion
1/2 cup stuffed olives
1/2 cup Longhorn cheese
1/2 cup pecans
Chop all ingredients in food grinder or blender. Mix together and season with salt, pepper, vinegar and oil.
Blue Cheese Dressing
By Sara Jane O'Brien
3 or 4 oz package blue cheese
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 pint sour cream
2 Tbsp wine vinegar
1 to 2 cloves garlic, crushed
Mix the blue cheese thoroughly with the other ingredients. Let stand overnight if possible. If it becomes too thick, add a tbsp of milk and stir.
Just for fun, here are some household tips for stay-at-home moms from the back of this vintage cookbook.
