Q and A with Dr. Hull

Subject: Weight loss with aspartame

Q: I just started a calorie controlled weight loss program. I have been drinking a generic version of Crystal Lite® and Arizona Green Tea® with Ginsing. I drink 2 quarts per day to help me get plenty of water with a little flavor. I did notice weird heartbeats and severe menstrual cramps. Am I putting myself at risk for major health problems? I also walk 3 miles, 6 days a week. I would like to loose about 80 pounds. Please help. I already have migraines.

A: I would stop the chemical products, for sure. Losing weight is one thing, but creating more problems as a result of weight loss is another issue. Try to lose weight in a permanent, healthy way - exercise more than you eat, don't eat after 5:00 PM, and drink lots of water and fresh juice.

Do your body a favor, and stop ALL chemical products promising quick fixes. There is always a catch if it's not natural.

All my best,
Janet Hull

Subject: Brain lesions

Q: A friend at my work gave me info on your findings and I had to write and give this a try. I have had all of these symptoms all at once and some a few at a time for several years now. I finally gave in and went to an Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist with all of my symptoms, migraines, vertigo, sinus problems, allergies (springtime), fatigue, mood swings, anger over nothing, stressed out, blurred vision, etc. He in turn ordered an MRI two weeks ago and he called me last week at work and told me what he was suspecting. He said the white matter in my brain had multiple lesions and he is sending me to a neurologist and suspects either I have had several mini strokes or I have Multiple Sclerosis. Of course getting over this shock took a while but I am ready to find out what is going on with me so I can feel good again, I really have no clue what it means to feel good anymore, was beginning to think I was going crazy. I would really appreciate your input ASAP. I am open to any and all suggestions and would like to have the hair sample done, just wasn't sure if it would do any good since I have "lesions in the white matter" and wasn't sure if metal poisoning could even cause lesions.

A: You are doing the right thing in searching for answers, as many doctors don't seem to provide them, I have discovered. My first question: Do you use aspartame, diet colas, or Equal? Aspartame was proven to put holes in the brains of lab mice. If you do not use these products, then we need to search for a neurotoxin that does penetrate the brain, and while sitting within the brain tissue (with no way out) its chemicals deteriorate the brain mass and eat holes in your brain. Yes, this is really happening to human beings!!!! Aspartame was proven by Dr. John Olney to eat holes in the brains of his lab mice, and now
humans are witnessing this for themselves - seem surreal.

So, let's search your diet for any and all food chemicals (aspartame, MSG, food colorings, etc.), and then see what metals show up in the hair analysis. If we can identify what is getting inside the brain and remove it, then we can focus on rebuilding the damage done and prevent further damage.

Let me know how I can be of further help.

Subject: Detoxing from aspartame

Q: I was using aspartame, but right now NO! I have just found out about aspartame's effects and am working on detoxing. I am trying to find a list of effects or complications when detoxing from aspartame. I have been trying for 3 days now and I know that it can take up to 60 days to clean it all out of my system.

Is there anything that I need to know about (vitamins, herbs, etc.) that will help?

A: Glad to hear you are off aspartame. It is nasty stuff when you know the details. Go to the detox section of the web site at www.janethull.com, as I have listed all the vitamins that will remove the toxins from your body tissues and bloodstream. If you have specific questions, let me know. The aspartame toxins can be out of your body in one month to six weeks.

Good luck and good health.

Subject: Can aspartame cause MS symptoms?

Q: I had been using Aspartame by drinking Diet drinks and chewing the sugar-free gums. All I had as a possible health problem was arm and neck pain, but I complained enough to the doctor, who in turn made me have an MRI of the brain. The MRI came back very abnormal and then I had a spinal tap, where some of the fluids were elevated to show possible MS. The early stages they say. May I ask: does aspartame cause lesions on the brain? PLEASE RESPOND???? I am desperate to get a second opinion and learn that I may not have this disease!!

A: Let me address your question:

Yes, aspartame causes lesions in the brain and nerve damage. I have written about this research in Sweet Poison and think you will benefit from reading the book. It will answer so many of your questions. You can find it at your library.

Dr. John Olney from Washington School of Medicine proved over and over that aspartame put holes (lesions) in the brains of his lab mice. Aspartame is connected with MS symptoms.

Get off ALL aspartame and read your labels carefully as it is even in products not labeled as sugar-free, such as the new Juicy Fruit® gums. Follow my detox program to remove all toxins and restore your health with vitamins - be careful here, too, as some vitamins are junky. Get good health food brands. And NO isolated amino acids. They will create a reaction, also.

Hope this helps. Good luck to you. Russell Blaylock also has a book EXCITOTOXINS: THE TASTE THAT KILLS. His book and my book should help you with the proper info on this. Try to locate Dr. John Olney's work on the Internet, too.

Let me know if you get a copy of my book, and we'll take it from there...The place to begin is research and education. Then, you'll have some answers!

Wishing you well.

Subject: Drinking water instead of aspartame

Q: My symptoms - headaches, flickering lights in my eyes, depression, inability to sleep, tired, lethargic, body aches, numbness in hands. Just an overall feeling of being ill. Due to a friend informing me about aspartame, I went on the Internet to try to find a way to detoxify my body. At the moment the only way to do this that I'm aware of is by drinking water. I would like to know if there is something more I should be doing. If you could put me in contact with a local physician I would appreciate it.

A: I do not know of any physicians in your area, but I feel you may be able to restore your health on your own, at least for the immediate time. If you remove the aspartame and restore the proper nutrients, many of your symptoms may disappear. Can you get a copy of Sweet Poison at the library and start from there? I feel with the right information, you may be able to take control of this yourself. It's the best to start, at any rate.

Yes, drink bottled water all day long - as close to a gallon a day that you can get. You'll flush away toxins and you won't desire a chemical cola! Exercise, too, and get plenty of sleep each night.

Let me know how you are doing aspartame-free.
