I was sent the following website, and I think that it is brilliant and very creative work: SugarStacks
Using regular sugar cubes that are four grams of sugar each, the webmasters of sugarstacks.com created a unique way to show you just how the sugars in your favorite foods literally stack up, gram for gram.
The site doesn't differentiate between the different types of sugar, such as sucrose, fructose, cane sugar, corn syrup, honey, etc., even though there are differences in how these sugars are metabolized in the body. The site simply stacks cubes of white sugar to serve as the best visual aid to really make their point about where sugar is hiding, and to be able to show you just how much of the sweet stuff you're really eating.
Their nutritional information was taken from the package labels, the manufacturer websites, or from the USDA nutrient database. Calorie amounts are based on four calories per gram of sugar unless otherwise noted.
These creative webmasters didn't stop with sugarstacks.com; they compared the sugar from eating carrots versus some of the popular sugary foods and drinks on: CarrotStacks
One thing I really like about these websites is that the creators of this very visual information do not suggest turning to the diet chemical sweeteners as an alternative to avoid these "stacks" of sugar. Smart guys and gals!
According to my research, there is no clear-cut evidence that sugar substitutes help people lose weight. These days, more and more data suggest that chemical sweeteners actually stimulate appetite, and result in weight gain.
It's time to admit that there is no free ticket to eating all the fancy, man-made products you want without paying the high price of harming your body in the long run. The "technology of foods" (man-made foods-for-pleasure or the artificial sweeteners) has gone too far, and processed foods and drinks will not secure eternal health, beauty, slimness, or youth.
Laboratory chemicals and processed foods are not your answer. One way or another, foods made with too much sugar or those that have the chemical sweeteners in them will NEVER, EVER satisfy your body's basic survival needs to be fed the highest quality, fresh, raw foods that you can provide it.
Give me a carrot over a candy bar, any day.
