SIMPLIFY YOUR LIFE

Have you noticed people are crabbier lately? Some people are overly sensitive to criticism, and most are becoming more insecure with their jobs and relationships. The economy is at a low in America, and people are stressed about that, for sure. More and more people are on medications of various kinds, they eat too many chemically laden foods and artificial sweeteners, and these toxins are making people more short-wicked and emotionally hypersensitive. Apathy is epidemic, fear is looming over most households, and times are just not easy or relaxing.

When I am in large crowds, driving amid heavy traffic, around people in a rush, or dealing with businesses with little to no integrity, I get very out-of-balance and become unhappy. My solution is to surround myself in a quiet and non-chaotic environment. Not everyone enjoys seclusion as much as I do, but I am a firm believer that human beings are products of their environments, and if you are living and working in an environment that does not make you happy, relaxed, joyful or calm, then by golly, you will become out-of-balance. This is common in children - they pattern their environments.

So, simplify your life before a mental or physical illness forces you to. It's the very least you can do for yourself!

Ask yourself WHY

  • you are using sugar-free diet products?
  • you are using alcohol?
  • you are dependent on prescription and over-the-counter medications?
  • you are refilling that anti-depressant prescription without question and for how long?
  • you began changing your diet from natural foods to an artificial chemical diet?
  • are you diabetic and living in fear of your food?
  • you will do anything to lose weight, and that means eating a toxic diet?
  • you give sugar-free foods to your children?
  • you are more stressed, shorter tempered and less joyful, and when did you first notice these behaviors?

These are important questions. At some point, anyone who depends on a chemical diet and medications to solve their nutritional and emotional needs must have some thoughts that artificial chemical diets AREN'T healthy in the long run. You know that! If you are diabetic, there are natural foods and alternative sugar substitutes without aspartame or sucralose in them. If your children are hyperactive, research the amount of fake fats in their diets, eliminate food colorings and other chemicals they are exposed to, and make sure they are getting enough exercise and sunshine. If you want to lose weight, make sure you really do get enough exercise and rest each day. No matter how busy you are, take some quiet time just for you, whether it is 10 peaceful minutes in your car before you go into the house after work or the luxury of an hour of peace and quiet in the bath before bed.

Consider what underlying issues may be keeping you from living in the environment that brings you peace and joy, good health and happiness.

How do you take care of yourself? Your body is a tool, and like any instrument needed to complete a task, you must maintenance that tool properly to keep it functioning efficiently. Do all you can do to protect your health by eating a natural and balanced diet beginning NOW. What goes into your body must be used to its fullest potential to secure long-term health and wellness. The proper physical "fuel" begets emotional balance. Wellness begets more energy, vitality, and a positive attitude; joy begets gratitude, and gratitude begets true happiness.

And read! There is an abundance of information on nutritional health and wellness on the Internet and in public and university libraries dating as far back in time as you choose to probe. Living a healthy life is an art passed down from generation to generation; learn about it, practice it, and pass it forward. Turn back time to a simpler lifestyle so your future can be filled with peace and health - a no chemical, non-chaotic, peaceful lifestyle.

AGREE TO BE HAPPY

A book I keep on my bookshelf is The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. Born into a family of natural healers and raised in rural Mexico, Ruiz was mentored by his mother, a healer, and his grandfather, a native shaman. For more than a decade, he has taught the ancient Toltec traditions, blending ancient wisdom with modern-day personal awareness. I respect Ruiz's work based on "The Four Agreements" he has written about. I pass these on to you, for to resist disease, stress, and emotional volatility requires emotional and spiritual discipline.

Be impeccable with your word. As Ruiz writes, speak with integrity . Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

Don't take anything personally. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering.

Don't make assumptions. Find the courage to ask questions and to expect what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness, and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

Always do your best. Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid judgment, self-abuse, and regret.

In these times of hardship, war, economic inflation, depletion of resources, and massive global changes, it is important to remember to eat pure foods and drink pure water, eliminate ALL unnecessary food chemicals, get plenty of rest and deep sleep, laugh and smile more than you frown, do not criticize others (unless you are perfect), admit to yourself that you're not perfect, and protect your environment from chaos. Health and wellness typically follow.
